The hammered together Mk1 Octane dev server (a large, beige twin-processor
Dell which sounded like it should have RyanAir written down the side) was
donated by none other than DMZ, sarcasm donated free of charge, with lovely
SCSi hard-drives courtesy of Alfarocks. It's been decommisioned so anyone
who wants it.. it's here gathering dust.
It was replaced twenty minutes later because the lights dimmed when it was
switched on by a DS20Prefecture sourced Compaq Armada laptop in jet black,
matching my completely standard Dell desktop perfectly, powered by a crank_case network card.
Software by the absolutely brilliant Linux Ubuntu team, the best Linux distro on the planet.
Hosting was previously provided by Astra driving hotshot Mathew Russell from Lincoln in the UK, CEO of Voxtreme, before migrating to WebHostingBuzz, Matt's spangly new hosting company, in the Spring of 2007.
Powering
the broadband at Octane HQ is none other than Brendan Kehoe of
Wexford WAN, who had
to sink lots of heavy duty bolts into hardcore bedrock to build the mast,
before he made eleventy billion euro selling the whole
network to Callidus Telecom, who're still providing us with sometimes-on
broadband, free of charge. We're hungry for more, though, so if you're a
telecoms provider
in the South East with a mast on Fort Mountain and some extra k's of bandwidth
floating around, do call.
Because I hate Javascript, all the Javascript on the site was written by none-other than our resident Rx7 addict, silver7, which is why that lovely image-swap you'll find on pretty much every part of the site works on every browser known to man.
Plenty of other people deserve a mention, so we'll be adding to this document as time goes by. Check back often for the roll-call of people and companies who've helped Octane prosper.
